Vampire Peaks

Over the last 20 years Kluane Airways has began serving an area 20 miles north of the Cirque of the Unclimbables called the Vampire Peaks. This is a much smaller overall area than the Cirque of the Unclimbables, but it offers some great peaks that have seldom ever been climbed.
Access to the Vampires is far more technical than Glacier Lake at the Cirque. Access is limited to helicopter only.
Only clients of Kluane Airways have ever climbed in the Vampires. We are very fussy on what is hauled in and 100% of what goes in, must come out. No leaving of gear and no burying of garbage. This area is now also part of Nahanni National Park, so one must apply for a permit prior to any trip. Permits are very easy to get via Park Canada’s Fort Simpson office.

Helicopter prices on request.

Logistics:

Climbers can fly into Whitehorse, rent a car and drive out to our Finlayson Lake base, 330 miles / 520 kms or drive their own vehicle right to our base which is 150 road miles north of Watson Lake, Yukon. For those in a rush, we can also arrange for flights directly from Whitehorse to Inconnu Lodge.  A flight like this would cost between $ 2,520.00 and $ 4,140.00 in and the same out, depending on the amount of climbers and gear.

Any groups going into the Vampires must supply their own communication, either an Iridium satellite phone or an Inreach.
